If you have a terminal app installed on your device, such as the Mac OS X / macOS Terminal, Hermes Terminal, SyncTERM, ZTerm, etc., click on the above image to telnet to the Armageddon BBS. Clicking on the above image should result in your terminal/telnet client being launched/started on your computer, if everything is set up properly on your end. This is normal behavior, so don't be alarmed when your terminal/client runs.

Welcome to the resurrected Armageddon BBS website, companion to the PC-ANSI-based Armageddon BBS, or bulletin board service. Some say bulletin board system, but whatever, right? It has been a few years since I last set up the BBS. In fact, this is now the 5th time that I am bringing the BBS back online since 1993. You know us old geezers .... nostalgia and all that!

In fact, my friends, here is a brand new silly -- but very true and autobiographical -- poem which I composed on October 7, 2026. I hope that some of you old SysOps connect with it, and get a good laugh out of it as well:

ANSI GEEK FREAK

by Bill Kochman

10-07-2026

Yeah, I'm geeking out on the ANSI code,
Oh man, my board's a total visual load.
They say I'm crazy 'cause I get excited,
Check me out dudes, you're all invited.

I've been a BBS SysOp since back in '93,
Tho I take it down, it won't let me be.
So sooner or later my board is up again,
When I'll get an itch I never know when.

I tell myself "Yeah, BBSing is now dead,
Suddenly crazy thoughts enter my head.
"You need to stop this clowning around,
Why in the world did you take it down?"

So there I go getting BBSing fever anew,
Man it's more contagious than even a flu.
Fool that I be, I start tinkering about.
Wondering how my ANSI is gonna turn out.

But hey it's such fun making this stuff,
I doubt I will actually ever get enough.
I'm never gonna stop, you got that bud?
Till they drop me six feet under the mud.

So there is my story with a bit of humor,
It's really all true and not just a rumor,
And now that I've told you I must confess,
I truly hope you'll visit Armageddon BBS.

If you want to listen to the song version:
Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

As it has since the very beginning -- except for a short period when I used the Public Address BBS software -- the Armageddon BBS is currently running on the latest version of the Hermes BBS software, which is version 4. I just found out on October 1, 2026 that the original developer, Will Price, has taken back control of Hermes after all these years, and I see from the information that is on Will's website that he has been doing one very amazing job with updating Hermes so that it now works on Silicon machines running even macOS Golden Gate as of this date.

So the purpose of this page and website is so that I can let my old online BBSing friends know that old Bill is back in the saddle, and he is riding that old BBS horse yet again! Yeehaw!

If you are a Macintosh user -- whether Mac Classic, Mac OS X or macOS -- and if you are an old or new hardcore Hermes II SysOp -- Systems Operator -- you may find this site very useful. Just scan what is available here, and then decide for yourself if I speak the truth. With that said, I will end my short introduction here. Oh, and if you want to learn about the history of my online presence, please check out this article. Thanks so much!

Different Versions of the SheepShaver Mac PPC Emulator

Click the blue link on the left side to download that particular file. If you have any questions or problems with installing and using SheepShaver, please refer to the Emaculation SheepShaver Forum.
