If you have a terminal program installed, like the macOS Terminal app, click on the above image to telnet to the Armageddon BBS. Clicking on the above image should result in your terminal/telnet client being launched/started on your computer, if everything is set up properly on your end. This is normal behavior, so don't be alarmed when your terminal/client runs.

Armageddon BBS Log-on Sequence Map

For newcomers to the BBSing experience, logging on to a BBS can sometimes be a bit confusing. They have never done it before, they are in uncharted territory, and they don't know what to expect. With that in mind, in April of 2015 I hit upon the idea of creating a map of the logon sequence for the Armageddon BBS. Thus, the chart below will show you the sequence of events and screens which are seen from the moment a visitor logs on to the Armageddon BBS, until the time he chooses to leave. It shows the events from logon until the main menu, what he can do at the main menu, and what happens after he decides to log off.

As you can see, once you reach the Main Menu, there are quite a few directions in which you can go on the BBS, including to the File Transfer Menu, where you can download files from the BBS. However, regardless in which direction you go, and what you decide to do, there will always be a way to return to the Main Menu from that location. In most cases, returning to the Main Menu will be accomplished simply by typing the "q" command -- meaning "quit" -- or just by hitting your return key.

For more-detailed help regarding the Main Menu commands and the Transfer Menu commands, please refer to the additional tutorials which are listed in the links table which is located near the bottom of this same page. Thanks!

IMPORTANT: Please note that using Qemu does require that you have a compatible ROM file, as well as a retail version of a Classic Mac OS install CD, or else an install CD disk image. Due to legal reasons, I am not able to provide them here. However, Google is your friend, and if you search hard enough, you WILL find that which you seek.

NOTE: After using both Sheepshaver and Qemu, even though it is a little more complicated to set up, I recommend using Qemu over Sheepshaver, because even though Qemu is not as established as SheepShaver, it is a lot more stable. Both my BBS and Hotline server run simultaneously on it.
